Thomas Tremethick
Owner / Woodworker / Artisan
My Beginning…
I grew up with a wood shop at my home. My grandfather owned a Lumber Mill in Western Montana. He passed before I was born but all the shop machinery was passed on to my mother and Father. I caught the wood bug early. I spent hours making little things and some ambitious things as well. My parents supported my desire and drive to learn woodworking. They ensured I used the tools safely and never allowed me to leave something uncompleted…
AS I grew I would spend time in the shop learning, reading books on various woodworking topics, and watching the Masters on PBS and dreaming of one day having a shop of my own.
Experience and Education...
As an adult I was lucky enough to apprentice under a Master Woodworker / Cabinet Maker named Thomas Klijian of Klijian Woodworks in Tucson Arizona. Tom has been featured on “This Old House” and has had numerous projects published in prominent Magazines, and Newspapers. I consider it a true honor to have learned my craft from him and will always be grateful for his lessons and continued support today.
Today, I continue to seek out and learn from those whom have skills I do not, I attend trade shows and seminars keeping my “Growing / Learning Edge” sharp. This has allowed me to combine modern Automated equipment with Old World techniques, tricks and tools to deliver the best quality products possible.
Establishing my Shop in Boise, ID
My wife and I moved to Boise Idaho in August 2010. She was recruited by a local Organization. This allowed me the opportunity to establish my own shop and start to deliver the same High Attention to detail and quality cabinets to my own clients.
I will tell you this, starting a Cabinet Shop in the aftermath of the “Great Recession” was not easy! I recall a comment a fellow woodworker here in Boise told at time… “You’ll make more money mowing Lawns…”. He wasn’t far from right.
Today, people seek us out for the High Attention to Detail, and the ONE-on-One attention I give to all my clients. This relationship has allowed a Clean & Clear conversation between Craftsman and Client which has fostered creativity resulting in Each Customers Vision becoming Reality.
In addition to Custom Cabinets, we provide Custom Cabinet Parts to other shops, contractors, Designers, Builders and Do it Your-selfers… For more information Click on the Cabinet Parts Tab above.
Cabinet Parts...
I established a Cabinet Parts division to help other shops grow. I was challenged to find competent, reliable help for my shop. I grew frustrated and sought out other ways to meet the shops needs.
It occurred to me that every Cabinet Shop basically, cuts plywood into the same basic size. So I asked myself, why we can’t simply buy pre-cut cabinet parts: Sides, tops & Bottoms, backs… If shops were able to do that, they would save so much time. In a world where time equals efficiency and profit potential that would be huge.
So I established Cabinet Cutters. Now, any shop can simply order the parts they need cut and Milled to their exact need. Perfectly square and ready for them to glue, nail and or screw together just like if they had cut parts themselves.
